đ„ "I failed engineering. But life had other plans."
This is not a movie script.
This is the real journey of Makrand Karambelkar â and it's one every job seeker and recruiter must hear! đ
In today's I AM A RECRUITERâą podcast we learned that if you have the right & positive mindset you can overcome any kind of failure.

Makrand comes from Indore â a peaceful Tier-2 city, far from the hustle of metro life.
He didnât start with big brands or fancy degrees.
His career began in a one-room consultancy with no laptop, no systems â just a chair, a table, and a landline phone. đ
đ It took him 5 years to finish engineering. Most people give up at that point.
But not Makrand.đŹ âI wasnât the smartest⊠but I never stopped trying.â
He didnât know what the future held. But he knew he loved talking to people â and thatâs how his journey in recruitment began.
đ He was shy.
 He wasnât confident in English.
 He feared judgment.
He got rejected â again and again.
đŹ "I used to pray for even one person to talk to me on calls."
But he didnât stop. He made one more call⊠and then another.
Slowly, his fear turned into belief. đ
đȘ Then came the pandemic.
Newly married. Suddenly laid off. No income.
That hurts. đ
But within 7 days, he got rehired.
Why?
đŹ âA candidate I placed 10 years ago offered me a job. I didnât even know he remembered me.â
Thatâs the power of kindness.
Thatâs the power of doing recruitment with your heart. đ
đ„ Makrandâs Story = Pure Inspiration
â Relationships > Transactions
â Empathy > Speed
â Character > Title
â Effort > Perfection
Even today, candidates call him years later just to say âThank you.â
đ€ He believes in embracing AI, not fearing it.
đŹ âAI can assist. But the human connection? Thatâs irreplaceable.â
Makrand believes recruiters are no longer just closers â we are talent advisors who build companies from the inside.
đ Today, heâs leading hiring at an MNC.
From that one small room to now shaping high-growth teams â what a journey!
But his humility remains.
đŹ âIf someone like me can make it⊠so can you.â
đ Thank you Makrand Karambelkar for sharing your real, raw, and inspiring journey.
You remind us that every recruiter matters, and every story has power.
